The big 8 0 birthday and a light house
It was a beautiful morning and Mark and Katie had written a birthday greeting in the sand below our balcony. Before breakfast I opened my cards and and presents then afterwards we caught the Libery bus to the lighthouse at Corbiere. There is a causeway connecting the rock, with its lighthouse, to the island. It is actually the first lighthouse in the world to be built using concrete.
Then we had a light lunch and a drink at the restaurant on the headland with a splendid view of the light which would have been perfect for sunset photos. However we were dining in St Helier so took the bus back with a group of walkers from Yorkshire who were waliking round the island in 3 easy hops.
We had provided family and friends with a bootle of prosseco and beer to toast my 80th so we gathered in the bar at 6:00pm and exchanged WhatsApp selfies with everyone back in the UK. Jerry tried a video call but the link was not very good.
Birthday dinner at the seafood restaurant lived up to expectations although it was rather crowded and unfortunately all the tables overlooking the harbour had been booked long ago.
The busses worked out so that we could take a bus in both directions.
