It was raining first thing, but did not last long and we left about 11:30 for a short drive through the hill fog to Swanage to find some of the free Jazz Festival events in the town. Parked in the main car park (at vast expense) and strolled towards the seafront where there was a college modern jazz group playing Miles Davis type stuff on the old quay. We listened for a while and went back to the van for a sandwich, picked up at M&S yesterday. Then we moved to the south car park overlooking the pier gardens and beach where the Dorset Youth Band were playing 40’s and 50’s big band music. We just caught the last 20 mins or so as the sun made an appearance. Then I went for a quick walk to the cliffs behind the car park for a couple of photos back over the bay, while Rosemary made a cup of coffee.
We had an overnight stop on a working sheep farm camp site near Corfe castle. It was windy and overcast again away from the coast, it had been all day apparently. We were given a pitch in Donkey field for a bit of shelter! The farm shop provided some nice lamb chops and steak for dinner.
Louis Hamilton won the British grand prix and Andy Murray won the singles at Wimbledon this afternoon. The TV signal is good here so we watched the European cup final, Portugal beat France 1:0, after I grilled the steaks outside in the wind. Closest thing to a BBQ this year!
