Woke up this birthday morning to some murky wet weather. The mountains have all but disappeared. Opened my cards and had breakfast in the cottage. It should dry up later so we will take the car into Abergavenny for lunch and a browse around. We didn't have stroller tickets so were restricted to the high street outlets today. We sheltered from a downpour in the Angel hotel car park where we had a portion of rare galloway beef and roasted vegetables cooked over on open wood fire and then later a coffee and cake in a nice independent coffee shop. Went back this evening for the Party in the Castle event with music, street food and fireworks. Booked a local taxi both ways to avoid night driving. Lots of mostly young people and still a bit of drizzle, but not enough to stop the 5 mins firework display from the castle walls.
