Back to the Cold Sunday

Image
We had an early breakfast in order to get a cab to the airport before 10a.m.  Switched the heating on the Nest CH controller before we left to get the house warmed up. It had gone down to 10deg . A fairly smooth transit through Malaga airport departures and a prompt take off brought us back to Birmingham ahead of schedule. Arrivals was rammed and it took half an hour to get back into the UK through passport control. It was not quite as cold as expected but still a massive difference with Malaga. Stopped at M&S outside Coventry for a meal deal and arrived home about 4 o'clock.

Last full day Saturday

We had breakfast as usual then took the lift again up to old town for bit of shopping. Rosemary bought another cork purse and we sat and had coffee on the square with a bit of people. A bit of cloud today but still warm. Walked back down the hill to get some sweets but the shop was closed. We decided to swap buffet dinner for a fixed 3 course lunch in the Level which was very good and then an afternoon doze on the balcony. We packed ready to leave after breakfast on Sunday and missed the Flamenco dancing in the bar tonite. Its incredibly nosiy and seen it all before.

Rest day Friday

We didn't do much today as Peter had developed a cold except wander locally on the promenade. Bit windy too so we didn't spend much time on the roof terrace even though there was full sun again. Listened to the last half hour of Ken Bruces final program on BBC sounds app. Some sun loungers were blown into the pool later in the afternoon.  There was an Elvis tribute act in the bar tonite. We had lots of prawns and paella for dinner. Elvis had an operation on his leg 2 weeks ago so 'limited action' would have been a good song title for him.

Promenade Thursday

Decided to have a quiet day but still walked along La Caruella promenade almost to Benemaldena stopping at a few shops and a cogffe bar along the way. When we reached Larry's Chiringuito (16000 paces) we stopped for a nice fishy, post birthday, lunch of sea bream and swordfish. It was a lovely warm sunny day again for the stroll back, but very cold back home apparently. There was a large gathering, of mostly men, for a business conference or reunion or something in the hotel conference suite. They were in the bar later and made the entainment go with a swing working the young duo hard with many encores in several languages.

Rosemary Birthday Wednesday

Lovely sunny start for Rosemary birthday. After breakfast we went into Torremolinos old town using the lift for a coffee and to see if anything has changed. Then we walked back down the steps to the hotel rooftop terrace bar, called  Sea and Sky, for a snacky lunch and had two different versions of Sangria. The Hotel delivered a complimentary bottle of fizz to our room, they are very thoughtful at the Meliá. We had the buffet dinner in the hotel as usual and were entertained by Iris Oboe (a Spanish version of Amy Winehouse) who sang in the bar and played the oboe.
